The Surffamily, The Surftainability

In our previous life, things weren't bad for us, at the expense of spending almost the entire year working jobs that didn't fulfill us. Only in the summer, when we were back in the company of our friends, the sun, and the sea, did we feel completely happy. At a nearby beach, where we used to go in our uncle's old car, there were often people surfing. We were fascinated by those surfers and their lifestyle; sometimes, we even tried to catch a few waves with an old board we had in the garage. But when the holidays were over, we returned to our routine and stayed until the following year.

One day, the idea arose to do something completely different and abandon everything that didn't satisfy us in our lives. As children, we were fascinated by watching our grandmother make her own dresses, some shirts for our grandfather, and she even knitted sweaters for us. She even made them in the colors and patterns we wanted! It was during those times that our interest in clothing was piqued, so why not reclaim this family heritage, adapt it to our way of seeing life, and show it to the world? That's what we did, and it makes me think of something our grandmother used to tell us: that our path in life seems to be marked; the people you meet, the experiences you have, guide you along that path, and even if you want to stray from it, you eventually return to it. It's like riding the crest of a wave. If my grandmother had been English, she would have said: “Life is a wave. Catch it!” Our way of seeing life comes from a multitude of experiences: what we learned at home, the places we've visited, the books we've read, the people we've met... The surfing lifestyle has had a lot to do with our commitment to caring for our environment and working toward a more habitable planet. This is what we call Surftenibilidad or Surftainability.
